You could almost compare Sao Paulo to New York City, but the realities are still quite different. The buzz of the city is similar, but of course, New York City is New York City. Still, São Paulo may a surprise to those who walk its streets, especially Paulista Avenue, which is over 2800 meters long. During the week, thousands of executives take care of its blocks, while on the weekend the demand is for culture, being the MASP (Museum of Art of São Paulo), the most famous museum in the city. The building speaks for itself, which has specific architecture and is impossible to miss. Inside you will find the most varied works from various corners of the world.

Also on Paulista Avenue you’ll find the Morales Salles Institute. This is another place to visit, because it always has free temporary exhibitions. You can check it out online to see what is going on.
So, if you are a cultured person, don’t worry, in this huge city, you will find several theaters, cultural centers, cinemas, and museums.

São Paulo is a city with a huge cultural diversity of nationalities, and here you will find the largest Japanese community outside Japan. So, if you are a sushi lover, this is the place to eat. There are numerous restaurants around the city, for all kinds of taste and price.

Do you like shopping? This is the right place because there are over 70 malls, some of them very luxurious. Undoubtedly the most luxurious is the Shopping Cidade Jardim, with its renowned national and international brands, surrounded by a splendid natural environment.

Awesome Batman Alley in São Paulo, Brazil.

In addition to what’s been already listed, another place to visit is the Pinacoteca. This is a museum of visual arts with emphasis on Brazilian production from the nineteenth century to contemporary pieces. If you go downtown, visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, considered the fourth largest neo-gothic temple in the world. Not far from the Cathedral, you will find the Altino Arantes building, or Banespa Tower, where you can climb and have a 360 view of the city. There’s no reason to not go, it’s free!

To connect with nature you can head to Ibirapuera Park, where in addition to a great space to relax you will find two important museums of the city: the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

One of the trendiest areas of the city is Vila Madalena, a bohemian neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and a street full of graffiti painted on the walls. Everyone knows her by the name Batman Alley (pictured left!).

Finally, one of my favorite streets in the city is Oscar Freire, where you find the largest Havaianas store in Brazil and several internationally known Brazilian brands, such as Rosa Chá, Salinas, Melissa, Arezzo, and Schultz. And if you walk here, as I do often, after the tiredness of so much walking, I always like to stop at Tea Connection and eat my açai with banana and granola. Delicious.

Have fun!

There’s so much to see and explore in São Paulo, Brazil! From the food, shopping, and museums you can always find gems in this iconic city! Come visit São Paulo for yourself and explore!
