Quiet. Very, very quiet.
It’s April 2020. About a month ago, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport was getting ready for the busy months ahead. Things went a little differently.
Normally, during this time of the year, Schiphol handles over 6 million passengers per month. These days, it’s rather empty. The airport currently runs at about 10% of its capacity, measured in the number of flights. Most of them are cargo. Just a few passenger flights remain and those flights are nowhere from near full.
